Spring/Summer 2010 General Intern - The Asheville Tourists (Asheville, NC)
Description/Responsibilities: The General Intern will place a large emphasis on sales while rotating through the following three positions: Marketing and Merchandise, Box Office, and Food and Beverage.
Marketing and Merchandise Responsibilities:
• Assist with sending out weekly job orders
• Assist with creating content and updating website
• Assist with updating daily game day script
• Put together game day prize box
• Create group list and slide for game days
• Assist with putting together homestand schedule for weekly meeting
• Assist with setting up the concourse on game days
• Manage Tourists Kid’s Club
• Assist with on-field promotions along with overseeing Energy Team
• Assist with creating daily picture list and make sure all the pictures are taken during the game
• Pick up press box food for each game day
• Pick up birthday cakes and other promotional items each game day
• Re-stock and straighten merchandise on a daily basis
• Make sure everything is priced in the merchandise store
• Put up daily sales signs
• Stock hawkers stuff each game day
• Understand the register and teach other part-time employees how to use it
• Assist with overseeing the merchandise store on game days
• Maintain online sales in the online merchandise store
• Assist with counting down the register after each game day
Box Office Responsibilities:
• Process and deliver for group, season, partial plan, single game, and event ticket sales
• Assist with event creation and participate in departmental meetings
• Assist in delivery of game tickets to groups, sponsors, and season ticket holders
• Handle ticket operations and related projects as assigned
• Become well versed in the Ticketmaster operating system
• Assist in the daily operation of The McCormick Field Box Office
• Compilation and creation of single game ticket purchasing data for use by sales department.
• Assist with the operation of box office and event set up. (Ticket printer stock, reconciliation forms, etc.)
• Schedule game day box office staff for available shifts based on customer service standards.
• Assist with the cash reconciliation of each game day staff member cash drawer on event days.
• Assist with training and managing of game day box office staff.
• Clean the box office on a daily basis (wipe down window work stations, sweep, wash windows)
• Put up daily marketing signage for specials or targeted seating locations.
Food and Beverage Responsibilities:
• Daily restocking and cleaning of concession stands
• Daily preparation of concourse for events
• Assist with receiving deliveries
• Assist with end of night cash room duties
• Recounting stands
• Supervision of part-time staff
• Keeping stands stocked with product during the event
• Disposal of trash and recycling at the end of the event
• Assist with monthly inventory
• Working in the stands as cashier and/or runner as needed
• Maintaining time and temperature logs during the event
• Maintaining delivery and receiving log
• Maintaining freezer and refrigerator temperature logs
• Setting up picnic buffets in our two picnic areas
• Coordinating food & beverage for the birthday party areas
Sales:
• Two hours a day of sales calls with leads provided by Group Sales Manager
General:
• Assist with ballpark set up and breakdown
• Assist with tarp as necessary
• Assist with staff cleanup following each game
Requirements:
• Basic computer skills, including ability in Word and Excel.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work long hours.
• Candidates with a Bachelors Degree or other higher education will be given stronger preference.
