Overview:
As a Sales Intern you will learn to actually produce ticket revenue by prospecting and obtaining season seat and group ticket accounts. You will learn to sell new business to decision makers within local businesses and non-profit organizations, primarily by phone and through outside sales appointments.  You will also learn all fulfillment elements as it relates.

Responsibilities:

Learn the art of heavy relationship-building with prospective and current clients in order to meet sales goals.

This is a credited internship only that will offer a $450 living expenses stipend a month and we will also pay you 4% on any commission you may sell and collect as well as housing is free!

Qualifications:
Full training will be provided.  We are seeking applicants that are excellent communicators, detail-orientated, team players, confident, ambitious, dedicated, diligent, computer savvy, and have a general knowledge of sports, and want to be in sales as a career.

Video Production Internship - Charleston RiverDogs (Charleston, SC)

This is a full time internship in the marketing department of the Charleston RiverDogs. You will help in the creation and execution of digital content for use in-stadium and in marketing efforts.  Must be able to work long hours and be dependable.  Candidate must be proficient in Final Cut, or similar software, and have experience shooting and editing video. Projects include player features, weekly recaps, "Dave TV" marketing content, and in-stadium video work. Intern will gain experience managing in-game production and production of video broadcast.

Internship runs from mid-March through early September and is conducted in a course-like setting for college credit.

The job includes the following responsibilities:
* Writing Press Releases, Game Recaps, preparing Game Notes, and writing articles for the website & game program
* Updating RiverDogs.com daily
* Press Box Liaison during all 70 RiverDogs home games, as well as run the scoreboard during the games
* Opportunity to call the radio broadcast a handful of innings/games throughout the season
* Interview players/coaches for use during the radio broadcasts, as well as online
* Brainstorm new ideas for theme nights, promotions, in-game between inning promo’s, etc.

Other notes:
* Previous Writing experience is a must.

The Charleston RiverDogs, the South Atlantic League Minor League Baseball affiliate of the New York Yankees, are looking to fill several internships for the 2018 season.

The Organization
The RiverDogs are nationally recognized as one of the top organizations in professional sports, gaining notoriety for unique promotions, outrageous food and beverage items, and excellent customer service. The RiverDogs strive to provide a diverse fanbase with a memorable and highly entertaining experience at each of its 70 home games and many other events at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in downtown Charleston.

The major departments within the organization include ticket sales, promotions, marketing, special events, merchandising, food and beverage, community relations, and media relations. The RiverDogs have a strong tradition of hiring from within, with four of our current full-time staff members starting as interns.

The RiverDogs offer several full-time internships, which start in mid-March and go through the end of August. These are unpaid positions, which can be completed for college credit. These internships are designed to provide interns with insight into the entire scope of a minor league baseball operation.

Interns will be required to work all 70 home games and regular non-game day office hours. This includes nights, weekends and holidays. ·         Must be willing to work in inclement weather conditions

Responsibilities Include:

·         Assist in all aspects of the day to day facilities operations

·         Assist in managing all part-time staff within the Operations Department (Parking, Kids Zone, Ushers)

    • Including but not limited to hiring, training, and scheduling part-time staff

·         Assist in preventative maintenance of the ballpark

·         Maintain parking lots during the season; including daily signage and barricade placement, trash and debris removal, and hazard inspections

·         Possible cash handling of large sums of money

Ticketing 

  • Assist in the set of the ticketing manifest

This internship provides students with a great opportunity to learn within a professional sports sales department. Most entry level jobs in the sports industry are in the ticket sales department, this internship will give students a vast knowledge of ticket sales and provide them with some hands on experience in the business side of the sports industry.

Reports to: Ticket Operations Manager

Duties:

* Learn ticket sales process

* Learn why/ when/ how to make cold calls to companies and individuals

* Assist with marketing and promotional campaigns for ticket sales department

* Assist ticket department with season ticket holder mailings/database

* Assist with the daily operations of the Legends ticket sales department

* Help create and maintain ticket sales databases and spreadsheets

* Help research/prospect and generate new sales leads

* Provide excellent customer service to all guest

* Assist the sales staff with all ticket promotions

Requirements:

* Must be able to receive academic credit for internship (students will be required to submit documentation from their college/university stating that internship is for class credit)

* Available 12 hours per week

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Must possess strong organizational and time management skills

* Strong skills in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and Excel

The Merchandise and Social Media Intern responsibilities will be split 80%/20%. This intern is responsible for operating and managing the team shop and any/all additional point of sale locations within Appalachian Power Park on game days as well as fulfilling all online orders and preparing reports. They will also have social media responsibilities to include but not limited to creating new, interesting content, covering outside Power events and finding ways to increase ticket and merchandise sales through the social media platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Merchandise Operations

·         Deposit and report all merchandise revenue each game and as necessary on non-game days

·         Assist in preparing merchandise sales reports to be incorporated into the overall weekly & monthly sales reports

·         Conduct timely and accurate monthly inventory counts

·         Handle, record and report all complimentary merchandise requests

·         Manage point-of-sale system

·         Assist in managing our online presence via our website including the posting of photos, pricing, etc.

·         Market and promote store and online sales

·         Train general interns on game day merchandise tasks

·         Assist in designing  and rotating store layouts and kiosks to maximize revenue

Social Media

·         Assist in day to day management of all social media channels

·         Moderate and monitor fan conversations across social media channels

·         Create new and interesting content that encourages fan interaction on all social media platforms

·         Use platforms to increase ticket and merchandise sales

With the second season of new LSI video board, the Power are looking for a hardworking, dedicated, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and talented person to work within and grow our team.  This person will help produce the game entertainment for all 70 of the Power home games where thousands of viewers will see your work nightly!  Candidates must be creative, enthusiastic, and outgoing individuals that truly enjoy having FUN!  Through this internship, the candidate will learn, understand, and perform all positions in control booth and camera locations.  Additionally, they will learn to prepare and organize the nightly game script including writing and updating PA reads and coordinating with the on-field promotional team.  In short, the objective is to become capable of performing the boss’s job.

General Responsibilities:

• Must be willing to cooperate and work well with all other areas of the organization
• Learn to work cooperatively in a busy and deadline driven environment while enjoying the excitement of working within a professional sports organization

• Perform daily information updates (headshots, statistics, sponsor logos, birthdays, groups, etc.)

• Other duties include the creation and production of all material at the in-house site to be used for in-game and media.   Examples include the creation of video board graphics, writing scripts, filming, directing, and editing team and sponsor commercials.
